As this semester is wrapping up and our last chance to post
blogs is upon us. I am troubled by
knowing that I did not write my blog about how Jim Carney, White House Press Secretary,
shapes; frames; and spoon feeds news stories to the media. If you ever have time watch a daily briefing,
seriously, it’s incredible.
Aside from that I would like you all to know that I
sincerely enjoyed reading your discussion posts and your blogs. One of the most enjoyable aspects of this
class to me was the engagement that we have with one another in this virtual academic
environment.
Good luck to all of you in your future endeavors and thanks
for all that you taught me this semester!

Being Press Secretary for the President of the United States has got to be one of the toughest and most stressful jobs on this planet. I completely agree with you that this person, regardless of Administration, has to bend and twist every word and sentence to be favorable to the Administration. What an incredibly complex job. Sometimes, depending on which Party is in power, I admire the person carrying out the job and other times I don't like them too much. All that being said, we should be cognizant of how incredibly difficult this job must be. My hats off to all persons that work this job.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Every time I see Carney, I wonder how much he's getting paid.
DeleteI'm not sure if you are a fan of the show The West Wing but I always thought that it showed a good insight into the day-to-day lives of White House Staffers, especially the Press Secretary. I'm sure this sounds foolish but because I watched the show before I started studying political science it taught me quite a bit on the inter-workings of the White House.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a pleasure, Phenisia. Good luck to you too.
I think the actual job of simply reporting the president's actions in a favorable way may be simple. But Carney's challenge comes when he is questioned by the press. Either way, thanks for a great semester. I have enjoyed reading your posts, and that of the whole class.
ReplyDeleteNice touch! ;-)
